The Anishnaabek Healing Circle is a healing circle of friends, community members and substance abuse professionals who will walk with you on a journey to wellness. If you or a loved one in your family is struggling with drugs or alcohol, then you can get the help you need to break the cycle of addiction. The Anishnaabek Healing Circle is a gift from the Creator to the Three Fires People. The gift is now: we have a three year period of time, with financial and human resources available, right now, to do something about the disease of addiction, one person at a time. Only you can choose to accept the gift – of time, of people who care, of “Mino-bimaadiziwin” -- the Good Life – the life lived in balance. The door is open --- it’s up to you to walk through it.

Clinical treatment is defined as any number of services and supports, based on an assessment and outlined in a Treatment Plan, to help an individual address a substance abuse problem. Once you are screened and assessed into the program, you will receive an electronic voucher to pay for services. Once you are approved for a service voucher, you choose which provider in the Anishnaabek Healing Circle Network you will work with. You may work with several different providers during your time in the program, depending on your circumstances and as your needs change. back to top

Recovery Support is defined as any number of activities, resources, relationships and services that help an individual get clean and sober, stay clean and sober, and improve your overall quality of life. A unique feature of the Anishnaabek Healing Circle Program is the emphasis on recovery support, with financial aid (through the electronic voucher) to pay for services identified in your Recovery Management Plan. Recovery Support happens while you are getting ready for treatment, receiving treatment, and afterwards, for as long as you need help. Recovery Support can also happen if you are not actively using drugs or alcohol, but have had a problem in the past and if you feel you need help now to maintain a substance-free lifestyle. The Access to Recovery grant will pay for up to $1600 per year, per person, for Recovery Support services.

You are not expected to enter the Anishnaabek Healing Circle alone. You will have a Care Coordinator assigned to you from the beginning and staying with you throughout your journey. Your Care Coordinator will be someone from the tribal community who is knowledgeable about community supports, about where the local resources are located and who the clinical treatment and recovery support network providers are in your neighborhood. Your Care Coordinator will stay in contact with you by phone and in person and will check on how you are doing with your Treatment and Recovery Management Plan. Your Care Coordinator will also work with the providers you have chosen to make sure you are getting the services you need and make sure any necessary changes are made to your plan so you can continue to grow and heal. Your Care Coordinator will ensure that the grant requirements for your participation in the Anishnaabek Healing Circle Program are met. This includes working with you to complete a GPRA interview six months after you enter the program, and at the point where you complete all services and are successfully discharged from the program. These interviews must be done so we can maintain the federal funding that pays for the three year program. GPRA interviews are one of the few things we ask from you in return for the services and support you will receive. back to top |
